John Poly, Author
About the Author
John Poly has been a minister and bible educator for over 50 years, as well as an experienced public speaker. He has developed a deep interest in the languages of the bible and modern greeek as the result of his years of reasearch into numerous Bible translations, reference works, lexicons, grammars, and Greek interlinear translations.
The author's parents were Greek immigrants from the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. He and his brother and two sisters were born in New York City, and have lived in different parts of the country. The author hopes to someday visit the birthplace of his parents.
"Bible Greek" is the language of the "New Testament," written by Jesus Christ’s disciples some 2000 years ago. It is referred to as Koine, or Common Greek. The age of the Koine is from about 300 B.C.E., during the period of Alexander the Great, to 330 C.E.
Striking likenesses between Koine and the modern Greek vernacular have been noted, in fact there is little difference between the Greek of the "New Testament" and the Greek of an Athens newspaper. The unity of the Greek language, seen both in the Koine and its modern expression, is recognized by many Bible scholars. A basic knowledge of Bible Greek, as contained in "New Testament" Greek interlinears can give the reader a better grasp of the precious "pearls" found in God’s written Word of truth.
READER VIEWS
"Before I took on the review of this book I could honestly say "it's Greek to me" and mean that I didn't understand a thing… Poly changed my understanding through his book "Greek Grammar." Poly un-complicates the language through illustrations, association, and exercise.…

Presented in large-print for assimilation without eye-strain, Greek Grammar offers black-and-white illustrations, association tools, and linguistic exercises (including explicitly detailed sample translations of Greek into English) to drill the reader with basic instruction. Polykarpos Publishing: Learning Path vs. Learning Curve
We've all thought "I'd love to understand another language, but the learning curve is so steep, I just don't have time." If only there was a better way, a way to to learn without making an enourmous commitment of time and resources.
Can language be learned through the use of clear illustrations and simple mnemonics, using what we already know as a foundation to accelerate the process?! This idea is the catalyst that inspired John Poly to write the book "You Can Learn Bible Greek". As the President of Polykarpos Publishing, it is John's earnest hope that his work will continue to make it possible for many more to come to an accurate knowledge of Bible truth through the use of the book "You Can Learn Bible Greek" and others yet to come.
